Hex Series 1
Set in a remote English school, Hex is the chilling story of one girl's exploration of the supernatural and her own sexual awakening.
Cassie is a shy student who discovers she is cursed by terrifying links to the past. Longing to be popular, but only truly loved by her best friend, Cassie comes to realise she possesses dangerous powers.
Stalked by Azazeal, fallen angel and leader of the Nephelim, it falls to Cassie to fight against the powerful forces that threaten her existence. Her only companion in this fight is Thelma, now a lesbian ghost, murdered at Azazeal’s hands.
In film 3, Cassie has become impregnated with Azazeal’s child, the Messiah of the Fallen Angels. She must make a choice: abort the child and keep the Nephelim in the Abyss, or give birth to him and release the demons….
Hex’s high-concept narrative and glossy production values succeeded in drawing an upmarket, broad age-range audience to Sky One, in a way only previously achieved by American imports. Hex’s audience was comprised of 25% AB adults, compared to Sky One’s peak time average of 17%. Whilst Hex performed well in all age groups, notably 22% of it’s audience was comprised of the 45-54 age groups, compared with a 17% average for that group across Sky One peak time. In this way Hex more than fulfilled its brief to appeal to new viewers and subscribers, thus enabling Sky One to widen and increase its core audience.
